Macbook boot usb stick9/7/2023 I just want to be able to boot into a 'Install Mac OS X Monterrey' bootable USB drive so I can run disk utility, erase the internal SSD and get a clean install of the OS in there. So at least the SSD is working, albeit partially. I removed the SSD and booted it up and got the folder question mark icon. I did confirm that it is indeed running off the SSD when in Recovery (again, not very familiar with Mac Pros, so just trying to eliminate all fringe possibilities). Since it boots in recovery, it also wont allow me to 'Erase' the SSD as it is running off that drive. No options to reallocate a partition or anything else. From Recovery, I can view the SSD (PCIe 512 GB, per the sticker on the SSD inside the tower), but it says that it's total size is 1.79 GB. When you power it on normally, it takes the Apple logo 2ish minutes to appear, and then about 20-30 minutes to eventually boot into Recovery. But I have worked on 30+ other macs and MBPs, so I can usually figure things out. I've never worked or even seen one of these trashcan Mac Pros before, so there is likely plenty I don't know about them. A friend brought a Mac Pro (Late 2013) over last night after trying to reinstall the OS and apparently really screwing it up in the process.
